What is native MMS?
MMS is multimedia messaging through a supported mobile messaging service. A recipient does not need an MMS Express app. For this workflow, a statement or invoice is prepared as an image and included with the message, rather than being available only through a document link.
Fictional example
“Hi Jennifer. Your September statement is attached.”
The accompanying image contains a short account summary headed EXAMPLE — NOT A REAL ACCOUNT. It illustrates the idea; it is not evidence of a particular phone appearance or delivery result.
Where it fits.
Consider MMS when the customer needs to see a concise statement, invoice, account notice or confirmation. Use an image designed for a small screen, a clear business identity within the document, and only the personal information needed for the task.
A long file, an original signed PDF or a document that requires search, copying or protected access can call for another channel. An MMS image does not preserve all the capabilities of the source document.
Local focus does not mean universal coverage.
A valid South African mobile number is a starting point. It does not prove that the current subscription, device or messaging configuration can receive your MMS. There is no published verified operator coverage list on this site. Ask about a controlled evaluation for the recipient services relevant to your business.
- Confirm that the recipient's service supports MMS and the number is still used by the intended person.
- Check the network provider's current guidance on connectivity and MMS configuration.
- Allow for manual download settings and different image presentation on different phones.
- Evaluate readable content at the accepted media size, not just a full-resolution source image.
Device guidance is available in Help. A number prefix alone should not be treated as a current-network or coverage check.
A sensible first evaluation.
- Choose a short, fictional document and remove working payment details.
- Check current limits in the dashboard or the API reference.
- Arrange an authorised evaluation with the owner of the receiving number.
- Record the phone, service, date, relevant settings and observed image readability.
- Compare the phone observation with the recorded MMS Express outcome.
Sent means submitted to the delivery network. It does not prove the customer received or read the document. Keep this distinction in your own reports.
